Welcome
Welcome to the WGPCGEEK.COM website and forums. Here you will find a wide varriety of information pertaining to technology. I set this site up in regards to my YouTube video about PayPal and their fraudulent activities. I thought it would be a great opportunity to begin my own technical webpage. Please check out our forums and let me know what you think! I will continue to post videos, articles and the like. This site is not just dedicated to the PayPal subject -Alex
About The Video
I created a video about my recent Paypal experience, as a mild user. I've been in very good standings with both Ebay and Paypal and have been a member/user for several years. Recently, PayPal or Ebay (PayPal claims it's Ebay, and Ebay claims it's PayPal) have put a hold on my funds in my account. For no reason. I've done nothing wrong. I've shipped my products on time, I've accurately described anything I sell using pictures and video. I explain anything and everything wrong (if at all) with the item I am selling. Just recently, I sold my BRAND NEW replacement Blackberry for a total of $215. After Ebay fees, I think I made $198 and change. I was not allowed to touch this money. It was put on "hold" until one of 3 things happend:
1. I waited 21 days and IF there wasn't a dispute, my money would be released
2. I ship the item and produce tracking numbers and have to wait for delievery confirmation
3. The buyer leaves POSITIVE feedback
I fail to see how any of this benefits the seller. Obviously, if I as the seller, did not ship the item for 21 days, the buyer is going to contact me and/or PayPal and ask where the item is, thus potentially leading to a PayPal investigation. Now, if I ship the item, input all the tracking information into PayPal, I think that is fair as I think the buyer has the right to know where his or her item is in the shipping phase, but I don't agree that the seller has to wait until delievery is confirmed to get his or her money. Now, if a seller has to wait until the buyer leaves POSITIVE feedback, that could take forever. What happens if the buyer leaves negative feedback? Where does the seller's money go? This could be a very lucrative business for scammers. They pay for an item, get an item, leave negative feedback, and get their money back leaving the seller with neither money nor product. To all of the sellers out there, how many times have you sold something, only to receive NO feedback at all. Does that mean as sellers we have to wait 21 days to get OUR money? Why does PayPal find this fair? Why is it, when you call PayPal, and FINALLY get them to release the money, it is a "convience to me" for them to release MY money.
Now, if you're on this website, you are either interested in my video or technology. As a college student, I have a part time job, but to make a little extra gas/spending/insurance money, I buy broken stuff, usually laptops and other computer components and fix them and then sell them. It's a skill I got from my father, being able to fix stuff. So just to give you an overview, I prodominently sell electronics. Electronics that I went out and purchased with MY OWN MONEY, to fix and then resell. So why does PayPal see it as fair to STEAL, yes, STEAL my money that I work hard for?
Without turning this into a bash PayPal fest, I'd like to propose something for PayPal. How about if you plan on playing with the seller's money and requiring them to receive POSITIVE feedback from the buyer, if you require the buyer to have to leave feedback for a seller before they can bid on other items. Ebay has taken our rights away as sellers to leave negative feedback. I find this unfair as well. I'm an honest seller, but there are very dishonest buyers out there who take advantage of that, and deserve negative feedback. I do not use, nor do I believe the feedback system should be used for intimidation.
I'd like to know everyones oppion on PayPal, Ebay, etc. Please comment either in the forums on wgpcgeek.com or on the video posted on my YouTube channel.
I have a few questions that maybe those of you out there who have more expeirence with PayPal could help me out with. They will be posted in the forums.
Thanks,
-Alex
